life update: the apartment is coming together! right now the prioritiy is to have all the boxes unpacked by the end of this week. thankfully we have many windowsills that can hold many of our items before we’re able to thrift a coat rack and more dressers. as for the old place, the lease officially ends in october so we still have time to get it cleaned up. it’s unlikely that my gf will get her full deposit back but we’re hoping for a portion.
work update: i completed the general 3-day orientation for my PRN gig, but i need one more full day for my department’s orientation. it’s going to be tricky scheduling this while working part-time at my other job. how part-time works is that i come in every weekday and work anywhere from 2-6 hours as long as the weekly total is less than 30. SIGH. which means i dont get specific days off for other responsibilities unless i negotiate to work a weekend to make up for the loss time. which i did for this 3-day event, but raaaaaaaa. i work at diff locations so i have multiple supervisors to speak with regarding all this. but once this is over, surely things would be smooth-sailing from here! SURELY!!!!!

as for the meat of the job, im enjoying myself! i feel confident for the most part even though im totally green.
cooking update: my gf made breaded porkchops, green beans, and mashed potatoes with gravy! we’re slowly making our way through the farmers’ market haul from last week. unfortunately for our wallets, we’ve been eating a lot of takeout since unpacking the boxes and doing general maintenance are taking a lot of energy from us. neocities too, ha!
music update: honest man by freak slug played from my and my gf’s blend (spotify feature) and its such an ear worm! although, i thought she was chanting “every bruise and every chord!” which is more interesting to me than the actual lyrics.
anticipated releases!
- binki - half-nelson
- freak slug - loose tooth and a short skirt
- carly rae jepsen - e ● mo ● tion (10th anniversary edition)
- carter vail - coydog
- 5sos - EVERYONE’S A STAR!
gf, gf’s bff, and i stopped by the neighborhood record store over the weekend. every time im in one, i forget all the music i ever listened too. except for mother mother, but they didn’t have a SINGLE ALBUM.
we havent unpacked the music player yet (record player + cassette + cd). its somewhere in the many boxes that occupy our apartment. but once that’s set up, i want to burn mixtapes again! KNOCK ON WOOD, my car has a CD player that works. its approaching 200k miles and is behind 80% of my current credit card debt.
hobby update: this month has been an EXPLOSION! in new discovered music. ive opened the notes app to write a new song! its slow going currently because im stitching together lyrics rather than writing from a specific idea in mind.
which reminds me, i’d like to move my song lyrics/translations (well. more like reinterpretations of transliterations) here. i started degoogling my life three? years ago and its still ongoing as i have at least five personal gmails and multiple accounts with each. lol. i successfully emptied one of my gdrives the other month!
on the other side of the spectrum from my gf, i am a chronic deleter and i find myself periodically regretting that.
reading update: cuckoo by grethen felker-martin! the cover caught my attention back in 2024 when i stopped by a local indie bookstore. i took a picture of it, intending to borrow it from the library first, but like with a lot of books, i promptly forgot about it.
over the weekend, i found it again and decided to buy it this time! i’m a sucker for body horror and i really love her prose so im enjoying it so far. i also have never read it or any stephen king book and this will be the closest i’ll get to that.
when i was a senior in high school, i somehow got away with fucking around for an “independent study class” where i unsuccessfully plotted a novel in which queer teens at a summer camp have to fend off zombies.
i credit the parent trap with my initial interest in summer camps (i later became a counselor at one for two summers, which put me on my current career path yippee!). i really oughta find a group to play sleepaway again. pulling from the page here:
In Sleepaway, you play as a camp counselor at a not-so-ordinary summer camp besieged by a Strange and ominous cryptid. In the outside world, people grow increasingly alienated from their own identities, trapped in a miasma of advertising and corporate branding. Isolated from civilization, this summer camp is a beacon of safety, a refuge for misfit kids defined by their marginalization. As time pushes past and the world grows older, this camp also shelters the survivors of the Lindworm.
it’s such a fun ttrpg! i had played it with some blaseball pals over discord.
