weekly round-up

life update: the saga of the old apartment has ENDED! despite giving ourselves a MONTH to clean things up, we were unable to finish the checklist to the extent that we had planned. but im hopeful that my gf would at least get a portion of her security deposit back after charges.

we’re settling in nicely with this neighborhood. we got 2nd place at trivia night and won a gift certificate! it was my first time ever, and our first time as a team. we sat in a booth next to the trivia host and he thought we were very sweet the whole time ahahah. he’s seen plenty of teams get into fights about answers. a few of my gf’s friends were able to swing by to see the new place too! my friends live far enough that it’s a whole Day trip for them so we’re still figuring out the schedule.

the other day gf and i attended a vintage festival in which nearly all the vendors were exclusively selling clothes. we had expected more of a yard sale moment with appliances and furniture. my gf scored a very nice winter sweater and i got a LIME GREEN LEATHER JACKET for the bestie. could not look away from it. it’s the only thing i bought lol

hung up more items/decor! took pictures of the coat rack, the floating shelfs, and my guitar hook to show my dad that i am CAPABLE of using a drill. like he knew that bc i built a roof with him a few years ago but i still have a chip on my shoulder for all the other times he excluded me from home projects. i had to get my fix from THEATRE CLUB.

work update: census is low everywhere so i have not been able to do my orientation at the prn gig and i had two unexpected days off at my part-time job. this inconsistency with my hours has been both a blessing and a curse. i have more time to complete miscellaneous tasks around the home and for my hobbies, but i have nagging anxiety about being able to afford my portion of the bills. SIGH.

food update: MY GF BAKED AN APPLE PIE!!!! this was last week and since then she has also baked apple roses (did not get pics). as for me, i baked cornbread for the first time bc i was craving it for my soup.

i went to the farmer’s market again to pick up jowls, pork chops, italian sausage, and another cabbage. i’d like to try a different recipe for the cabbage. i’d like to stick with one recipe for the cabbage.

coding update: hugo is pissing me off omfg. with weird web october, im creating custom “templates” for the individual prompts so hugo can pull that and build the web pages, but it’s not doing that!!! even though i have corresponding .md files for each page and putting in the front matter that i want each to have a certain template. i have to go straight into the public folder! i might switch to a different static site generator or do without one altogether. i don’t want to, though.

as for weird web, updates will be sporadic bc i frankly don’t feel like committing to a prompt every day. what i like about it is the opportunity to learn something new like the checkbox hack and toggles, but right now, it’s not a priority.

watching update: gf and i resumed watching the oc! we started in august, but had to take a hiatus. it’s so fun to watch, not just for the storylines, but for the guest appearances of actors who later become famous for something else. paul wesley aka stefan salvatore was in one of the episodes and i had to tell my gf who he was. she wasn’t in fandom during her childhood like i was.

reading update: since hugo was pissing me off, i took a break from neocities and went back to my most beloved past-time, reading fanfiction. right now, the fandom in question is stranger things. season 5 is coming out soon and i’m curious to know how it ends (even though i think it went downhill with season 3).

gf and i decided to have a reading nook in our bedroom, so i installed a shelf and she brought up the rocking chair. we’re trying to be creative with the space we have.
