this is one of three in the first set of fieldnotes i ever bought. i can’t remember when and where i purchased it, but it sat in a wrapper for years before i opened it up. it’s from pack A of the united states of letterpress series. i started the notebook in fall ‘23 and is nowhere finished. i used it as a commonplace notebook for class lectures when i’d forget my tablet or random notes like how to make a knit decrease. status: incomplete.

from the same pack as the first one. i think i had forgotten where i left the green. during my program, we took multiple field trips off-campus so i’d use this for notes. for my level I fieldwork, i’d print out the weekly reflection assignments as stickers with my mini heat printer and paste them onto the pages. status: completed fall ‘23 to fall ‘25.

this is from the national parks series C pack! my gf and i split this pack and this was the one we chose to share as a sketchbook. admittedly we have not been using it as she’s much more prolific at sketches than i am and she has her own notebooks. we started this in october ‘24 at one of her old coworkers’ wedding! status: incomplete.

this is from pack A of the birds and trees of north america series. my gf got me this for christmas! i used this notebook for my first fieldwork rotation at a skilled nursing facility. it was how i would take notes during my weeks of observation and treatment. i absolutely filled it up during my brief time there because there was so much to learn. status: completed january ‘25 to march ‘25.

this is from the national parks series A pack! i got this pack specifically for my gf to have the lighthouse one. this notebook was used for my last level II fieldwork rotation which was eight weeks in an acute care hospital. it took some trying to fill this one out because most of my notes were written on my daily treatment schedule. status: completed march ‘25 to may ‘25.

i think i purchased this pack with the same order as the lighthouse gift for my gf. at that time, we both read endurance by alfred lansing which is an account of ernest shackleton’s polar expedition that left him and his crew stranded in antarctica for roughly two years. you can sort of see it in this picture, but the cover has a ‘subtle varnish effect featuring a topographic map of antarctica’. its incredibly x, y, z proof which means the water-based ink of my preferred pens smear on the paper. i’ll be able to use it with mechanical pencils, but i don’t write with those. status: incomplete.

this is from the heartland pack. this is my current BELOVED. i started it in july ‘25. i use this while reading library books because they’re the one item i cannot put pen to paper. every time i start a new book, i use a color ink pen that matches the book cover to write the title and then i make a list of new phrases and vocabulary that are interesting to me. this may be one of the few fieldnotes i’ll write an individual post for. status: incomplete.

this is from the hatch pack. because the green commonplace was perpetually missing, the yellow fieldnotes is another commonplace notebook. i currently bring this everywhere for when i want to write miscellaneous notes like my plans for this website lol. i started the notebook this month! september ‘25. status: incomplete.

this is also from the hatch pack. i started two jobs this month, september ‘25, and this is for notetaking at those locations. currently, much of it is notes from orientation. i also have examples of documentation that i can reference while writing progress notes. status: incomplete.
